    Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the vehicle shipping process

How much does it cost to ship a car?

Several factors influence the cost of shipping a car to ensure an accurate price quote. The distance between the pickup and delivery locations is the most significant factor. Additionally, the type and condition of the vehicle play a role, along with the date the vehicle is ready for transport. For an elevated level of service, options like enclosed carriers and top-load service can be added at booking.

When will my vehicle be delivered?

The delivery time for your vehicle depends primarily on the distance between the pickup and drop-off points. As a general rule, every 500 miles typically adds an extra day to the transit time—meaning a 1,000-mile transport would take around 2-3 days. Check our estimated transit times for a closer look at expected delivery schedules.

Is my vehicle insured during transport?

Yes, all shipments come with basic liability coverage throughout transit. For additional protection, we offer comprehensive insurance options, which you can select during the booking process. If you have any questions about coverage options, feel free to give us a call.

How do I pay for my auto shipping?

We accept all major credit cards, electronic transfers, postal money orders, and bank/certified checks for deposits or full pre-payments. If there is a balance due upon delivery, you can pay the driver directly with cash, bank/certified check, or postal money order.

What is the difference between open and enclosed transport?

Open transport is the most common method for car shipping and uses two types of transporters: larger carriers that hold 8-10 vehicles for longer hauls and smaller 2-3 car carriers for shorter, local moves. Open-air carriers are widely available and generally more economical. Enclosed transport, on the other hand, provides maximum protection for your vehicle, shielding it from weather and road elements. We recommend enclosed transport for classic, luxury, or exotic cars. Because availability is limited, it’s best to book enclosed transport in advance.

What types of vehicles do you ship?

MS Transport Hub ships a wide range of vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, minivans, oversized vehicles, antiques, classic cars, motorcycles, construction vehicles, inoperable cars, and boats. If you’re unsure whether we can ship your specific vehicle, feel free to call us to discuss your options.

Does someone need to be present for pickup and delivery?

Yes, a person must be present to release and receive the vehicle, provide the keys to the driver, and sign the initial and final inspection reports. This can be anyone you trust over the age of 18.

Can I leave personal items in my vehicle?

Yes, you may transport personal items in your vehicle as long as their combined weight doesn’t exceed 100 pounds and they are stored in the trunk or back seat below the window line. Please note that personal items are not covered by insurance if they are lost or damaged.

How far in advance should I schedule my transport?

Scheduling as far in advance as possible helps us meet your preferred timeframe. For the best results, we recommend booking at least 2 to 3 weeks ahead. Expedited shipping options are available for urgent shipments. Feel free to contact one of our car shipping experts to discuss scheduling options that suit your needs.

Where will my car be picked up and delivered?

The driver will bring the transporter as close to your door as is legally and safely possible. In most cases, pickup and delivery are door-to-door. However, certain cities have restrictions on large trucks in residential areas. If access is limited by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, or tight turns, the driver may request to meet you at a nearby location with ample space, such as a grocery store parking lot.

How do I prepare my car for shipment?

First, thoroughly clean your car inside and out. This will help the driver conduct a detailed inspection to note any pre-existing damage. Remove any personal items unless you plan to ship them with the vehicle—remember, these items must weigh less than 100 pounds in total and be kept below the vehicle’s window line. Inform the driver of any special conditions related to the vehicle. Finally, ensure there’s a quarter tank of gas in the car at pickup.
